PrepNow Tutor - Philippe K.
Philippe has experience teaching database management systems, operating systems, and programming (up to college-level Programming II). He holds a BS in computer science from Grove City College and is pursuing a career in software engineering. During his studies, he interned as a software developer (in testing) at Tesla and helped develop the mobile application of the early-stage startup, Tooli.
Philippe began tutoring during his sophomore year of college at the suggestion of a professor. As a teaching assistant, he discovered various tools and tricks to make learning more accessible for those with different backgrounds and learning styles. “I love finding different ways of formulating knowledge to make it easier to understand,” he says.
Philippe uses a questions-based approach to get students thinking about problems from multiple angles. “My philosophy is that every problem has a solution if approached from the right perspective,” he explains. He optimizes each section by showing students how to approach concepts in a structured manner, alleviating learning anxiety and allowing them to organize their ideas more efficiently.
His stellar grades earned him a recurring spot on Grove City College Dean's List with High Distinction. As a student, he also played soccer and basketball.
In his free time, he loves watching comedies, rooting for the Dallas Mavericks, and playing board games with friends. “I am trying to get better at solving the 3x3 Rubik's cube and am averaging under 30 seconds!”
Fun fact: Due to a metal plate in his left arm (from a sports injury), his friends and family nicknamed him “Mr. I, Robot.”
