Suhaib's Bio

Suhaib is an accomplished scholar with degrees from international and US institutions. He holds a BS in aerospace engineering from the National University of Science & Technology in Pakistan, an MS in thermal power and fluid engineering from the University of Manchester (England), and an MS in mechanical engineering from Penn State University at University Park. As one might expect from these credentials, Suhaib has always been near the top of his classes, and he enjoyed mentoring and guiding other students along the way. He also formalized his role as an instructor while he pursued his graduate degrees, teaching undergraduate students physics and communication skills. In addition, he returned to Pakistan as a lecturer in aeronautics at the Institute of Space Technology (IST), one of only two Pakistani institutions offering a college degree in aerospace engineering. There, he taught hundreds of undergraduate students core engineering subjects, including thermodynamics and heat transfer.

Suhaib considers his role as an educator to be a facilitator of student growth. To that end, he emphasizes open communication and real-time feedback with those he tutors. Suhaib stresses interaction and collaboration with students. He says, “Often, I will ask students to explain their thoughts on a problem that they cannot quite solve; and rather than simply providing them the answers, I nudge them in the right direction, allowing them to work their way to solutions.” In this way, Suhaib encourages students to seek their own answers, a skill that serves students well in the future. Thus, the approach allows students to develop an overall learning process, not simply a way to tackle a specific assignment.

Suhaib relishes a worldly perspective in his everyday life. He speaks three languages with native fluency, and he has intentionally lived in four countries to expand his worldview and education. Along the way, unsurprisingly, Suhaib has always been an avid reader and writer. He generally prefers to read nonfiction texts, as he continues to pursue his own learning path. He wrote a blog chronicling his day-to-day experiences while a graduate student in Manchester.
Suhaib's formal research has been identified by the United States’ government as being in the national interest of the country, an honor bestowed on few.
