PrepNow Tutor - Farid H.
With a wide range of educational experiences that span three continents, Farid has tutored and taught both English and topics in STEM. Since 2011, he has worked as a private tutor for math, science, English, and test prep; he has worked with students ranging from elementary to high school and beyond! Farid has many degrees to his credit: a bachelor's in electronic engineering from the University of Boumerdes in Algeria; a PhD in computer engineering from the University of Newcastle in the UK; an MBA from Saginaw Valley State University in Michigan; and a master's in educational administration and leadership from Saginaw Valley State University.
For over 20 years, he worked as a college professor in both the USA and Saudi Arabia; he taught ESL, math, computer science, and information technology. In addition to tutoring at Saginaw Valley State University's writing center, Farid has also taught a range of subjects at a virtual learning academy. He's proud to share that many of his students have experienced significant increases in their ACT and SAT scores.
Farid's approach is comprehensive and adaptable. He challenges and supports his students via problem-based projects, scaffolding exercises, and Socratic discussions. "I seek to immerse students in richer learning experiences, spark curiosity, ensure the retention, transfer, and application of the acquired knowledge, and develop genuine skills," he explains. Over the years, he has acquired a variety of modern teaching techniques that allow him to tailor each session to his student's needs—and improvise when necessary. Ultimately, he wants students to be able to approach challenges with curiosity and confidence.
As a high school and college student, Farid was involved in soccer and tennis. He also enjoyed swimming, jogging, and running marathons. These days, he likes to read, socialize, travel, and admire nature.
