In addition to tutoring, she works as a project manager for a benefits communication company in Dallas, Texas.
For two years, she tutored elementary and middle school students in all subjects (mostly math) through the National Honor Society. She has been tutoring test prep (SAT/ACT) since June 2022. She’s proud to share that her students have made significant increases in their grades and test scores!
Emily’s approach is highly individualized and geared toward long-term efficacy. “Each student is unique—it’s important to recognize each student's learning style, strengths, weaknesses, and goals.” One of Emily's main objectives is to help students motivate themselves to become lifelong learners. She also hopes “to help students to design effective, creative study plans and to encourage them to learn from their mistakes and celebrate their successes."
Emily's academic prowess earned her SMU’s Distinguished Scholar Award as well as a generous scholarship. She was also in the university’s honors program and the recipient of the Teacher-Scholar Award, given to one graduating student in the educational studies major for exemplary achievement. She graduated magna cum laude.
As a high school student, she won the AP Scholar Award. Her dedication to volunteer work earned her the Gold President’s Volunteer Service Award 6 times for amassing over 100 yearly service hours. She was also a Scholar Athlete and graduated valedictorian of her class.
At SMU, she was a member of the cheer squad, the historical society, and the Bridwell Institute for Economic Freedom.
When Emily is not tutoring, she loves staying active. Emily also enjoys playing with her cat, traveling, reading, photography, and visiting her hometown. She has been to 13 countries on 3 different continents!
