PrepNow Tutor - Tania L.
Tania has a bachelor's degree in communication studies and history from Northwestern University, where she was a varsity diver on a scholarship. After graduation, she worked for a small television company, but she missed the world of academics so much that she had to return. She now works as a writing coach, a test-prep tutor, and a mentor for student-athletes.
Tania first began tutoring at a very young age, helping her homeschooled younger brothers with their homework. (Tania herself was homeschooled through seventh grade.) She continued tutoring throughout high school and college, helping students succeed in areas ranging from SAT/ACT prep to English and essay writing. She has experience working with students who have learning differences and test anxiety.
Tania loves the moment in a tutoring session where things "click" for a student, and she works hard to guide learners to that moment. She finds it particularly effective to break down lessons into smaller, more manageable chunks. She also likes to test a student's understanding by having the student teach the material back to her.
Tania's hobbies include beach volleyball, swing dancing, martial arts, soccer, and circus arts. Although her competitive diving days are behind her, she still enjoys diving and swimming. When Tania is not tutoring, she is either playing or coaching beach volleyball or running her beach volleyball company with her partner.
