PrepNow Tutor - Jason V.
In four years, Jason earned his Bachelor's in Mathematics and Psychology, followed by his Master's in Applied Mathematics, from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. In addition to tutoring, he now works in software development.
Jason started teaching as a teenager, when, after working his way through the ranks, he became the head instructor at his karate dojo. "From then on," he says, "I've loved to help others develop their abilities and understanding, especially in areas I'm passionate about." He spent four years as head instructor, and later spent one year as head instructor for the Tae Kwon Do team in college. He has done academic tutoring in math, physics and engineering at the high-school and college levels. In college, he spent more than two years as a Calculus/Physics/Engineering tutor and was a Physics Teaching Assistant for three semesters.
"I believe my style allows students to learn and understand the material without being spoon-fed it," Jason says. "This helps the students absorb and appreciate the subject as they get to arrive at conclusions on their own as a leader rather than as a follower to the teacher."
In high school, in addition to karate, Jason competed on the math and wrestling teams. In college, he began Tae Kwon Do and soccer. These days, Jason likes to explore the outdoors, play soccer, and enjoy comedians. Fun fact: A first-generation American, Jason is fluent in Russian!
