PrepNow Tutor - Jamie G.
Jamie’s career is founded upon serving others. She first served her country and earned a BS in aeronautical engineering from the US Air Force Academy. While pursuing that degree, Jamie tutored some of her peers, and those positive experiences at the Academy proved hard to ignore. Therefore, since 2018, Jamie has served students as a tutor. All told, Jamie has years of previous experience tutoring all aspects of SAT and ACT test preparation; she has tutored math from the middle-school to high-school level, including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, and AP calculus; and she has tutored high school physics of all levels, including AP physics.
Jamie is a detail-oriented and adaptable tutor. She says, “Most important to me is to find the method that works best for each individual student: the approach that works best for one student may not work for another.” Therefore, Jamie is always receptive to student suggestions and feedback, and she adapts her approach to fit student needs. That said, she believes that she must also offer students structure and a framework in which to discover and express their needs. To that end, Jamie likes to build a process for problem solving. This includes suggesting steps for solving particular types of problems and questions, as well as developing strategies to address unfamiliar questions that allow students to arrive at their own answers.
In her down time, Jamie really enjoys reading and video games. In both arenas, science fiction and fantasy stories are her favorites—she likes the Eragon series, The Lord of the Rings series, and The Murderbot Diaries series. Finally, perhaps not that surprising for an Air Force graduate, Jamie loves roller coasters. She tries to ride the fastest and most exciting ones she can find, any time she can.
