Dree's Bio

Dree received a BA in liberal studies with a minor in math from Sacramento State University. She then went on to complete a credential program in math and subsequently her master's degree in education at UC Davis.

A high school math teacher who thoroughly enjoys helping students, Dree received the Tireless Teacher Award two years in a row. Voted on by the student body, this award recognizes teachers who go above and beyond for their students.

Drawn toward a teaching career from a very young age, Dree first considered specializing in math when her AP calculus teacher encouraged her learning and suggested math as a possible major in college. As an undergrad, Dree put her love of math to work as an evening and weekend tutor. Of her work as an educator, Dree says, "I love making connections with students and helping them see that math isn't all bad. Some students have a sore spot for math, and I like to help them overcome the barriers they have so that they can be successful mathematicians."

In addition to the many students she has taught as a full-time high school teacher, Dree has privately tutored approximately thirty-five students ranging from age four to adult learners. The majority of her students have been high school age, seeking tutoring in both math and SAT prep, many over the course of at least two years. One of her most accomplished students was able to raise his overall SAT score by 200 points. Through her present teaching job, Dree helps students prepare for the SAT, and she administers the PSAT.

A student-centered teacher, Dree believes that it is her job to accommodate and work around students' needs. "This is both my teaching and tutoring philosophy. I believe that while not every student will learn at the same pace, every student is capable of learning anything! This is why I take pride in being patient and hardworking when it comes to getting my students to learn."

As a high school student herself, Dree participated in her color guard team and also helped run a virtual business through the Virtual Enterprise program. On the honor roll throughout high school, Dree also received a Wildcat Award from her school for making a difference in her business classes and was awarded the title Business Student of the Year.

In her down time, Dree can be found seeking adventure! She loves taking trips to the beach, lakes, and mountains with her friends, her husband, and their dogs. Fun fact: "I'm obsessed with Friends and have watched the series over twenty times. My head is full of useless Friends trivia and quotes!"
