A tutor who is always eager to better serve his students, Nicholas holds a BA in mathematics from CSU Fullerton and an MA in education from Claremont Graduate University. Nicholas has over ten years of experience tutoring all grade levels through college and has taught high school math since 2019.
Nicholas started tutoring while he was in high school. “Combined with my favorite high school math teacher, that tutoring job sparked my dream to become a high school math teacher,” he recalls. Nicholas’s professional tutoring career kicked off in 2013 when he was in college and he worked with students privately. “I love the chance to share my experiences and help our youth open doors,” he says. Over the years, Nicholas has tutored English, AP Biology, AP Computer Science, test prep, as well as a wide range of math topics (algebra, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus, probability and statistics, and more). “The thing I love most about tutoring and teaching is the chance to share my knowledge and tricks with others,” Nicholas says.
Nicholas describes his teaching style as student-centered and foundational-based. “I encourage students to build a strong foundation in math to facilitate their later experiences,” he says. “I prefer a student-centered approach because it allows me to see both what the student knows as well as what the student has learned or retained.” Nicholas believes that education is the gateway to opportunity and he’s passionate about improving the education system.
In high school, Nicholas was the chess club president and participated in the marching band. These days, he likes to read and play games and loves using humor to brighten everything.
