David's Bio

David has worked with students of various ages in pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, calculus, pre-calculus, reading, and test prep. He has been tutoring throughout his own academic career and loves witnessing moments of clarity and growth. “My favorite moment is when I see something click for the student. It's such a great feeling,” he shares. He has experience tutoring K-8 math and English online and, over the years, held other roles as a UX researcher and assistant tennis coach.

David is a 2nd-year MS student in medical physics student at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. He earned an MS in human-computer interaction from Georgia Institute of Technology and a BS in computer science from The University of Texas at Austin, where his research focused on “the effects of PET using FLASH treatment with positrons.”

As of Summer 2026, he’s studying for the ABR Part 1 (American Board of Radiology) exam and performing research with medical physicist Clara Ferreira, PhD. He’s excited to share that one of his abstracts was accepted to this year’s American Brachytherapy Society conference.

David’s philosophy is focused on critical thinking and deep learning. “It's important to me that whoever I tutor, I want to impart some form of increased understanding of the subject matter,” he explains. He aims to bolster foundational skills and the confidence to apply them in myriad ways, which is key for any test taker. His approach is collaborative and catered to the student’s natural processes. “I want to progress through each problem or topic together with the student, showing not only how I would approach something, but also showcasing different (and possibly more intuitive for the student) ways to reach an answer.”

As a young student, he was a PSAT National Merit Honors Society Semifinalist and in the MathCounts state top 50. His excellence in math and test-taking earned him several first-place honors in regional and district TAPPS Number Sense contests and myriad other advanced math competitions.

At UT and Georgia Tech, he played tennis and was in the archery club. He was also into esports for several years, acting as Rocket League community manager and team captain.

In his free time, he loves playing tennis, writing, and reading. “My favorite web serial currently is 'The Wandering Inn,' which is just now getting published into physical copies,” he shares.

Fun fact: He enjoyed honing his math skills early on. “I was homeschooled for 3 years, when I spent a lot of time playing head-to-head MathCounts Countdown games on the Art of Problem Solving website.”
