PrepNow Tutor - Varoon R.
Analytical, patient, and adaptable, Varoon takes pride in tailoring his approach to each individual student rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all method. He brings a high level of commitment to everything he takes on. Varoon earned a bachelor of science from Drexel University in music business. He then enrolled in Georgia State University and earned a bachelor of arts in music management. At both universities, he received merit-based scholarships. He currently runs a digital marketing agency.
With nearly a decade of experience tutoring SAT and ACT, Varoon is a veteran. “I teach directly to students in the way that they learn and retain information,” he explains. He is passionate about education and “genuinely enjoys helping students understand material that once felt out of reach.” Varoon has helped students dramatically improve their scores and their subject mastery. Of the experience he says, “Seeing that kind of growth is not just about the number, it changes how a student sees themselves and what they believe they are capable of.” Varoon is comfortable with students from middle school through college level and has experience supporting students with special needs.
“I adapt to the student rather than expecting the student to adapt to me,” Varoon says. “My style centers on figuring out how each individual student processes and retains information before I try to teach them anything. Some students need to see a concept visually, others need to talk through it, and others need to work through it themselves to understand it.” This approach helps students build both understanding and confidence outside the learning material. He explains, “I believe the biggest obstacle most struggling students face is not a lack of intelligence but a lack of confidence, so I focus heavily on building that alongside the academic skills.”
In 2020, Varoon started his first formal tutoring position. He worked one-on-one with high school students preparing for standardized tests across all subject matters. He also administered practice exams. His subject range is vast—all levels of algebra and geometry, pre-calculus, trigonometry, accounting, even Spanish 1 through 4. He also has taught specific sections of SAT mathematics and reading as well as ACT mathematics, reading, and science. Aside from a deep understanding of the material, he also “understands exactly where students tend to break down on these tests and how to rebuild their understanding efficiently.”
In high school Varoon competed in robotics and earned first chair in district honor band, balancing two very different but equally demanding extracurricular pursuits. He was also a member of a music production club. Varoon is still interested in the music industry and is an avid songwriter and music notationist. He likes to stay active and follow sports.
