Phoebe's Bio

A recent college graduate, Phoebe is passionate about sharing her love for learning and education. She holds a BS in physics with minors in mathematics and chemistry from Augsburg University and is beginning a master’s degree in accelerator physics at the University of Victoria in fall 2026. “I love tutoring and am excited to work with all types of learners,” she says.

Phoebe started tutoring in high school, where she primarily worked as an English tutor for peers and elementary school students. She continued to tutor all through college, teaching calculus, algebra, geometry, general chemistry, and general physics. “My proudest moment as a tutor came in college,” Phoebe says. “I was tutoring a peer in multivariable calculus who had struggled a lot on their first exam. Through a lot of hard work, I was able to help them get an A on their final and improve their grade in the class significantly. I am proud of this because it demonstrates how, through hard work, it is possible to learn anything.”
A patient and supportive tutor, Phoebe focuses on understanding rather than memorization. “I try to create a comfortable, collaborative environment where students feel confident asking questions and working through mistakes,” she explains. “This approach comes from my belief that learning is most effective when students understand the ‘why’ behind a concept and feel encouraged rather than intimidated.” Phoebe’s teaching philosophy is that education should build both knowledge and confidence, helping students develop skills and independence they can carry into future learning.
In high school, Phoebe participated in the National Honor Society, varsity soccer, and varsity hockey. In college, she continued to play soccer and was a member of the Society of Physics Students and Augsburg Rocketry Club. She was awarded the NASA Space Grant and the College Sports Communicators Academic All District Award; Phoebe also completed research at Duke University and Stanford University.

Phoebe grew up in Jackson, WY, and spent much of her childhood hiking. “This passion for the outdoors has followed me throughout college,” she explains. “I also love reading and trying new hobbies—most recently, I’ve been getting into embroidery.” Phoebe played men’s hockey throughout high school and was even named All-State her senior year.
