PrepNow Tutor - Adrianna B.

A curious learner and dedicated tutor since 2014, Adrianna holds a BS in materials science engineering from Virginia Tech and an MS in biomedical engineering from Duke University. Since earning her degrees, Adrianna has worked for several medical device companies as a clinical engineer. Most recently, she has worked in validation and verification testing for Johnson and Johnson and Intuitive Surgical. Adrianna is passionate about education and helping her students succeed, and she loves to draw from her strong foundation in STEM. “Whether exploring research opportunities or supporting students one-on-one, I bring a genuine desire to make a difference,” Adrianna says.
Adrianna started peer tutoring in high school through the National Honor Society and continued throughout college. Her proudest moment as a tutor was successfully preparing a student for an algebra test that they were deeply worried about. “The student was able to use the techniques I taught them to perform well on the test,” Adrianna says. Throughout her career, Adrianna has tutored K-12 math, chemistry and engineering, Spanish, and writing.
“My teaching style is supportive, flexible, and focused on building understanding,” Adrianna explains. “I like to meet students where they are and adapt methods to how they learn best (such as real-life examples, or step-by-step problem solving).” She’s an excellent test prep tutor in particular because she’s detail-oriented, patient, and committed to helping students reach their goals. “I understand how overwhelming standardized tests can be, and I enjoy breaking down big challenges into manageable parts,” Adrianna says. “I’m excited to tutor test prep because I see it as an opportunity to empower students with skills and strategies that boost both their scores and their confidence.”
As a student, Adrianna participated in basketball, volleyball, and Habitat for Humanity. She enjoys crocheting and baking. “I am a huge movie buff and have always had a huge interest in how movies are made and the motivations behind them,” Adrianna says.
