PrepNow Tutor - Io M.
A versatile tutor, Io has tutored all manner of STEM topics plus GED skills. They received their BS degree in computer science from Florida State University. For four years, Io worked as a software developer at the Center for Ocean Atmospheric Prediction Studies (COAPS) at Florida State University. They co-authored several published research projects on marine data quality management and improvement in various peer-reviewed journals.
Io started tutoring as an undergraduate at Tallahassee Community College. For four years, Io worked as a math, physics, and programming tutor; they covered everything related to those subjects, including GED exam prep.
Io's teaching philosophy focuses on strong critical thinking and foundational skills. "I like to emphasize understanding over rote memorization and curiosity and guided inquiry over rigid subject matter progression," they explain. Io works hard to cultivate students' skills in the topic at hand and their encouraging demeanor helps build students' confidence in tricky STEM topics. "Many students I tutored went on to complete engineering or science degrees," Io proudly notes.
Currently, Io enjoys reading, chess, and movies, hiking, and camping. "I want to visit every national park!" Io proclaims.
