Matthew’s specialties are in math, physics, and astronomy. He earned a PhD in space sciences from the Florida Institute of Technology, where he was a graduate student assistant (in Introductory Physics labs) for four years. He has worked as an adjunct instructor (Introduction to Physical Sciences) at Ivy Tech Community College and tutor at various national tutoring agencies. He’s looking for a post-doctoral position while tutoring full-time.
Matthew doesn’t follow any particular teaching philosophy; he uses patience and a flexible approach to serve each student, no matter their level of understanding. “I do my best to get my students to understand the material they need to at the level they need to,” he shares. His own experiences as a learner with ADHD and autism spectrum have given him myriad insights into the best techniques to engage learners of various backgrounds and disabilities.
In his spare time, he loves relaxing with video games, board games, or a book.
