Manny has taught various math topics including algebra, geometry, calculus, and statistics to students of all grade levels. He speaks English, Chinese, and Malay and has helped students of various backgrounds increase their scores on the SAT, ACT, and other standardized tests.
He attended Grove City College and graduated in 2020 with a bachelor's in computer science and minors in cybersecurity and mobile development. Since graduating he has worked as a math teacher at an International school, a math curriculum and content designer, and a software developer. His professional experiences in software development allow him to emphasize larger connections between content and applications, as a result, students are more motivated to develop stronger foundational skills.
Manny describes his tutoring style as collaborative and student-centered. He guides students through problems by first understanding their approach and breaking down the problem. "I ask probing questions that push their limits, encouraging them to think critically and explore different strategies," he says. "Once they’ve proposed their ideas, I coach them through a similar example with a solution, using it as a reference point to tackle the current problem." Manny aims to foster resilience and problem-solving skills, allowing students to learn from their mistakes and build confidence.
In high school, Manny participated in soccer and musical theatre; he was also a youth church leader and a School Camp Commander. As an undergraduate, he was on the Student Ministry Council; played the piano during church services; played first-chair violin in the orchestra; sang tenor in concert choir; and lastly, volunteered with various service organizations.
Outside of work, Manny is deeply passionate about music and sports. He's played the piano for 16 years and the violin for 17 years, with a particular love for improvisational piano and performing in worship bands.
In sports, Manny spent 11 years each playing soccer and ping pong, 8 years playing badminton, and 6 years playing tennis. Currently, he's getting into pickleball. "I attend tournaments with the goal of eventually joining the Pro Pickleball Association and pursuing a professional career in the sport!"
