PrepNow Tutor - Genesis F.
A diligent, creative thinker, Genesis specializes in K-12 math and SAT/ACT prep. She earned a BS in computer science with a minor in industrial design from Georgia Institute of Technology in Spring 2026. In addition to tutoring, she works part-time as a photographer and is excited to start graduate school in Fall 2026 at Georgia Tech, where she’ll study human-computer interaction.
She began tutoring at a math learning center when she was a high schooler. “My proudest moment is more of a cumulative sense of accomplishment as the students I've taught begin to master something once foreign to them and start to love it. It's really great to see someone conquer their fears and self-doubt,” she reflects.
Genesis considers adaptability the root of her teaching approach. She finds creative ways to pivot when necessary to ensure she’s meeting students’ needs while also infusing each session with some sliver of fun. “I believe the experience should be enjoyable so students feel more motivated to learn,” she explains. She emphasizes supportive, authentic relationships with students to promote a relaxed learning environment. “It's also important to form a friendly but appropriate bond with the student, so they see you as a trusted mentor rather than an authoritative teacher,” she adds.
In college, she worked on media (photo/video) for the Chinese Student Association at Georgia Tech and Hexlabs, a computer science nonprofit that hosted hackathons. She also created motion graphics and graphic design for various campus organizations.
In her free time, she loves all things music—listening, singing, and playing guitar and piano. She takes every opportunity to hone her creative eye via photography, videography, or video editing. “I love learning, and I also really love that learning facilitates creating, whether it be art, a machine, a tool, or anything,” she adds.
Fun fact: “I started a band with my friends in college, and I'm still in it.”
