PrepNow Tutor - Quinn K.
In addition to years of teaching writing, Quinn has a background in STEM and the humanities. He graduated from Carthage College with a double major in data science and communications and dual minors in English and mathematics. Since graduating, he has worked as a baseball analytics intern for the Windy City Thunderbolts.
Quinn started tutoring at his undergraduate writing center, where he helped peers with all aspects of composition. Quin recalls one time when he was helping a panicked, procrastination-laden student. "We worked through an outline, and she left with a clear plan for how she was going to develop the essay," he says. "It is my proudest moment because of the stress I could see relieved for both of us."
Quinn's tutoring style focuses on gaining clarity into students' understanding and deciphering the specifics of anything they don't understand. "My main philosophy is that students often know 'the answers' or what they need to do, but they just need to simplify things or look at the problem differently," he posits. "Asking a lot of questions is a great way to do this."
As a student, Quinn won the CCIW Merle Chapman Leadership Award in 2026 and the Scholar Athlete of the Year Award for cross-country and track & field. He was a member of Pi Mu Epsilon, the Data Science honor society, and he was consistently on the dean's list.
In his free time, Quinn loves all things sports. "I love to run and plan to do a marathon in October," he says. "I also read a lot of books about sports."
Fun fact: "Whenever I go on a run, I always make sure the duration of it is palindromic (e.g., 31:13, or 64:46)."
