PrepNow Tutor - William E.
William is a trained biologist and a professional in the financial services industry. He holds a BS in pre-professional biology from the University of Florida. After he graduated with his degree, William worked for a number of years as a private tutor to students ranging from elementary to high-school age, in subjects such as SAT prep, biology, and mathematics. As a math tutor, he worked in many areas, including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, pre-calculus, and calculus.
William characterizes his tutoring style as highly adaptive. He knows that each student is unique, so his approach is tailored to every individual circumstance. He says, “Some students respond well to hands-on instruction and ‘learning through doing’ with more practical, real-world examples; while others respond well to repetition and identify trends and themes from questions and discussion. As such, I seek to adapt my style to suit the needs in front of me.” This willingness to be flexible has worked well for William, and he brings that disposition to StudyPoint.
William’s personal interests have often skewed toward the academic. In high school, he completed an International Baccalaureate (IB) degree and was part of the Latin Honors Society and Latin-based “brain-brawl” (an academic team competition). Currently, he is testing himself by learning Japanese and Vietnamese. He also enjoys expanding his horizons in other ways, though. For instance, in college, he joined an amateur pool league. Also, these days, he and his wife are huge foodies and love to travel to experience the cuisines and cultures of international destinations.
