PrepNow Tutor - Peyton K.
A lifelong learner, Peyton is passionate about continuing education and sharing knowledge with others. He holds a BA from Miami University in adolescent young adult education with a focus in integrated social studies, with minors in both general business and history. He is currently pursuing an MS in educational leadership from Western Governors University. After graduating from college, Peyton went directly into education and has been teaching at a STEM high school since 2022
“I developed a passion for education following a very impactful experience that I had when I was a student,” Peyton says. “I had a teacher who opened my eyes to the importance of education and the benefits of learning with a lifelong learner mindset, and this interaction drove my passion and decision for me to go to school for education!” As a classroom teacher, Peyton has taught 7th-grade social studies as well as financial literacy at all high school levels. Now he is thrilled to also tutor test prep.
When tutoring, Peyton emphasizes establishing a positive relationship with his students and creating a cohesive space to welcome them into a positive learning environment. “I believe that this is a key foundation of education,” he explains. “Without a positive relationship between educator and student, establishing a deeper content knowledge is very difficult to reach.” Peyton’s teaching style is very hands-on. Also, he models his expectations for students so that they have a clear understanding of what is expected, and he utilizes visuals to supplement content.
In high school, Peyton played football, basketball, baseball, and lacrosse. He loves to fish, primarily on rivers in Ohio, but really on any body of water. “Being in a boat navigating a stream with my rods in the boat is my favorite way to spend a day,” Peyton says. He also enjoys watching any sport (“Go Cleveland Browns!”) and spending time with friends and family. “Throughout the past ten summers, I’ve also worked at a local canoe and kayak rental and have worked my way up to become a crew leader,” Peyton shares. “I thoroughly enjoy the opportunities this job brings to meet awesome new people and get to spend time outdoors!” Peyton once caught a hundred fish in one day.
