PrepNow Tutor - Eric B.
Outgoing and fun, but also ambitious and grounded, Eric loves to help others achieve their life goals. He attended Ohio State University where he earned his bachelor’s in family studies. He received his masters of education in school counseling from Bowie State University. He also has two masters from University of Maryland—a master of science in cybersecurity and a master of business administration.
Eric first got into education as a substitute teacher in 2007. He enjoyed it so much, he pursued a teaching certification in mathematics. He spent over a decade as a math teacher before transitioning to being a government contractor. After a few years, he returned to education—this time as a school counselor. Eric has taught algebra I and II, geometry, statistics, and business math, as well as both SAT and ACT test prep.
Often Eric employs analogies to help students remember answers. The process matters as much as the final result. “I love to hear how the student came up with their answer,” he explains. If the answer is incorrect, “I will guide them to the right answer, then explain to them why their answer is incorrect and then explain the reason for the correct answer.”
A teacher at heart, Eric was on his high school math team and academic team. In college, he joined a school choir and served in various organizations. In his spare time, he plays and referees kickball. Eric enjoys spending time with family and friends—often you’ll find him doing “karaoke, playing card games, traveling, anything as long as it's exciting.” His birthday is on Halloween!
