PrepNow Tutor - Fares M.

Fares has experience working with students of various backgrounds in English, math, test prep, and college application essays. He earned a BA in economics from Pomona College, where he began tutoring with a student organization called the Refugee Advocacy Network. “There, I was able to tutor young children who were just starting to settle into the U.S. I most enjoy getting to know my students and their passions and goals,” he shares.
His experience interning as a strategy consultant and a quality analyst consultant (with major companies like Deloitte and LPX Analysis Group) allows him to share insights on how students can apply concepts beyond academia. Having recently graduated in 2025, he’s exploring different careers and disciplines; however, in addition to tutoring, he plans to teach English in Vietnam soon and potentially pursue consulting or finance.
For Fares, listening and adjusting are key components of his approach. “I prioritize the goals and needs of the student that they communicate to me, and use that to set my approach to teaching,” he explains. Valuing process over product ensures Fares can assess any weaknesses and harness the student’s strengths to fill them in. “I let students take the time to think through a problem and articulate their thought process out loud,” he notes. He aims to inspire students to become voracious, self-motivated learners.
In college, Fares played intramural soccer and, in high school, he ran track and field. He’s proud to share that he won an Impact Award from Deloitte for leading the Claremont Arab Students Association. On top of graduating from Pomona in the top 25% of his class, he was chosen as Commencement Speaker.
When he's not working with students and learning new things, he enjoys playing soccer, lifting weights, reading, and catching up with friends.
