PrepNow Tutor - Ashley E.
Ashley has taught math (including algebra and geometry), science, history, social studies, language arts, writing, and test prep (primarily the GED) to high school and adult learners. She’s a certified ESL teacher who has helped numerous students hone their English listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills for the TESOL exam. Her background in reading comprehension, test-taking strategies, essay writing, and critical thinking skills can help build confidence and stronger foundations.
She earned a BFA in musical theatre from Penn State University, and, after graduating, worked as an actor, producer, and youth outreach mentor in New York City. Living in such a vibrant arts city deepened her appreciation for arts education and community engagement. She took those skills to Philadelphia, where she managed scholarship opportunities and outreach programs for youths. Since 2024, she has worked as a substitute teacher in the Crawford County school system.
Her love of education and educational accessibility led to her teaching English online to secondary learners in Beijing, China; she earned a TESOL ESL Certificate as a result of her experience. During that time, Ashley also worked as a career mentor and theater arts program director.
“One of my most rewarding roles was as a GED instructor, adult educator, and family literacy coordinator with the Titusville Regional Literacy Council. I supported adult learners and their families in reaching their academic and career goals and provided one-on-one tutoring as needed,” she says.
Her teaching style is highly personalized, encouraging, and engaging. Quick to pivot, she knows how to be present with students and find an “in" to get them excited about the material. “I celebrate students’ progress and provide constructive feedback to foster motivation and resilience,” she says. With a background in theater and arts education, Ashley uses storytelling, role-playing, and Socratic questioning to help break down complex concepts. While she loves setting learning goals, she stays flexible to whatever her students need.
As a student, theater was her primary sport! An avid fan of the arts, she is proud of having served as the executive director of the Titusville Council on the Arts, a role in which she helped produce several shows for the youth theater and brought renowned artists to Titusville for performances and workshops.
A proud mom, she loves seasonal decorating with her child (their latest creation is a “gnome fairy garden!”), collecting and reading books, and swimming.
