PrepNow Tutor - Caitlin F.

The bulk of Caitlin’s tutoring experience is in writing, but she has also worked with college students in algebra and calculus. She earned two bachelor’s degrees, one in environmental science and another in wildlife ecology and conservation, from the University of Delaware. In addition to tutoring, she’s aiming to start a master’s program soon.
Caitlin started tutoring as a writing and “general tutor” at the University of Delaware. She gets warm fuzzies thinking about the time when she, as a graduating senior, ran into one of her first students, who not only recognized her but also thanked her and shared aspirations for tutoring others as well!
Collaboration is the bedrock of her teaching philosophy. “Instead of always doing the talking, I strive to get the students to talk about their reasoning,” she explains. Hardworking, organized, and self-motivated, she understands that the drive to learn is often just as important as the rewards; as such, she pulls out all the stops to build bridges between students, the material, and the process. “The goal is to help students become better writers and learners, not create better papers and grades; the long-term understanding of the students is more important than one specific assignment,” she adds.
Caitlin has played clarinet in the marching band throughout her academic career. In college, her grades earned her a spot on the dean’s list.
An avid reader, she loves fantasy novels and learning about wildlife and the environment. When she’s not ears-deep in a book, you can find her making (or just listening to) music, crocheting, or knitting.
