PrepNow Tutor - Morgan A.

A tutor who is passionate about STEM and loves to learn about all types of subjects, Morgan holds a BS in biological sciences and cognitive and behavioral neuroscience with a minor in music from Virginia Tech. Since graduating in May 2024, she has been pursuing a PhD in endocrinology and animal biosciences at Rutgers University, studying sex hormones in the brain, specifically in the context of anxious behaviors in rats and mice. “I enjoy getting to know new students, especially where we can bond over learning something together!”
Morgan started tutoring professionally in college, teaching a variety of subjects including algebra, AP Chemistry, AP math topics, as well as intro-level college chemistry and calculus. “My proudest moments as a tutor are any time a student has an ‘ahah!’ moment where they finally understand the material,” Morgan says. “Especially when they now feel confident in tackling those types of problems!” Morgan has ADHD and is particularly interested in working with other neurodivergent students.
Morgan’s teaching style is student-centered and diagnostic. "It’s very much about letting the student try the problem and then identifying the points they find challenging,” Morgan explains. “From there we will go over strategies to solve these types of problems, i.e. how to analyze them and organize information. Then, if they have issues with the material we can go over the basics and work on how to apply things from the ground up.”
As a student, Morgan was President of Students for Cultivating Change and a peer mentor. She was on the dean’s list and the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships, including the Rutgers University School of Graduate Studies Dean’s Fellowship.
Morgan enjoys music, especially playing the piano, which she studied in college and now continues as a hobby. She also enjoys hiking, farmers markets, spending time with friends, and reading. “I fostered rabbits from a shelter for several years!”
