PrepNow Tutor - Alyceson-Grace E.
Alyceson-Grace began blending her interests in economics and education as she pursued her undergraduate degree. She holds a BBA in business economics from the University of North Texas, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Even as she was actively completing her degree, Alyceson-Grace worked as a financial well-being specialist for a bank, developing the organization's K-12 financial literacy education curriculum and training bankers to facilitate these programs. She also began tutoring for the University of North Texas in 2019 and became a teaching assistant for the Department of Economics.
In her various roles, Alyceson-Grace has taught and tutored K-12 students and college students alike. For her elementary school students, she has worked in areas such as the ABCs and arithmetic. At the intermediate and college levels she has worked in the following areas: writing and grammar mechanics, algebra, statistics, financial accounting, managerial accounting, principles of microeconomics, and principles of macroeconomics.
Alyceson-Grace’s primary educational focus is on student empowerment. Having experienced the benefits of a very supportive community herself, she knows the power that fostering such communities with students can produce. When Alyceson-Grace meets a new student, she quickly yields the floor to that student so that they know the interaction will be determined by the student’s identity and needs. Next, Alyceson-Grace uses a few assessment items as a baseline for advancement. She says, “A student explaining their thought process allows us to discover any patterns in thought or behaviors, and with that knowledge, we can address needs more effectively.” This process has worked well for Alyceson-Grace, and she has relished seeing many students excel, even beyond her time together with them.
Outside of work, Alyceson-Grace has always been active. In high school, she ran long-distance track and took a number of dance classes. Then, in college, she funneled her energy into serving her school as the University of North Texas’s mascot, Scrappy the Eagle. She was such a spirited supporter that she was named MVP of the school’s booster program following her senior season.
Lately, Alyceson-Grace has taken up kickboxing as a regular morning activity. All this said, Alyceson-Grace also likes some quieter time, so she often enjoys hanging out with her two cats or revisiting one of her favorite media franchises, Sonic the Hedgehog.
