PrepNow Tutor - Talia B.

Talia has over four years of experience tutoring physics and four years of tutoring math, ELA, writing, and test prep from K-12; she’s especially adept at helping students navigate Calculus AB, Physics C, and SAT/ACT/AP exams. Her STEM background and passion for writing allow her to translate complex ideas into manageable terms to meet students where they are.
She earned a bachelor’s in astronomy from Cornell University, where she tutored underclassmen and peers from 2017-2020; and, as of 2025, she is pursuing a master's degree in science writing from Johns Hopkins University. Since graduating, she has worked in science education departments at community colleges and museums, where she focuses on teaching astronomy. One of her fondest teacher moments is when she helped a student gain confidence in their statistics skills—the best part: the student, who had hated math, ended up loving it!
Talia’s approach is centered on empowerment. “I believe in fostering independence in my students and encouraging them to recognize what they already know,” she explains. “Students sometimes just need a bit of confidence to attempt new topics and realize their full potential.” She wants her students to leave each session feeling excited about their newfound understanding of formerly perplexing or intimidating concepts. “I love getting others just as excited about science!”
Talia graduated high school with high honors and was involved in orchestra, marching band, and speech and debate.
She devotes much of her free time to writing a novel, learning languages, and listening to music. Fun fact: Talia has appeared on local TV and radio to promote an observatory!
