PrepNow Tutor - Magdalena J.
“I believe that fostering curiosity and resilience in students is just as important as teaching subject matter,” says Magdalena, a dedicated educator with passion for helping students achieve their academic goals. She earned her bachelor’s in international business and French from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. Magdalena continued her education in international business at ESCP-EAP European School of Management—the oldest business school in the world. While studying for her master’s at ESCP-EAP, Magdalena attended both the Paris, France and Oxford, England campuses.
This educational background lent itself well to Magdalena’s career as a project manager in such varied industries as construction, telecom, and finance. Each of these fields honed her organizational, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Additionally, Magdalena has tutored consistently throughout her career. In 2005, while living in France, she tutored students in mathematics and conversational and written English. When she moved to the US in 2012, she continued tutoring, though she expanded her subject repertoire. Since then, she has taught algebra, geometry, and pre-calculus, all levels of French and English, financial literacy, as well as SAT and ACT test preparation. Her specialization in test prep focuses on strategies to improve math, reading, and writing scores. She also emphasizes problem-solving, critical thinking, and time management skills tailored to standardized exams. Magdalena also makes time to volunteer in local schools and at community events.
“My proudest moment as a tutor was seeing one of my students, who struggled with math and had little confidence, not only pass their SAT but score above their target. Watching them go from self-doubt to excitement about their future reminded me why I love teaching—empowering students to achieve what they once thought was impossible,” Magdalena says. Her teaching style is student-centered, adaptive, and focused on building confidence through practical understanding. “I prioritize creating a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, as this is essential for growth,” she explains. Every student learns differently, which is why Magdalena tailors her approach to each student. “I aim to not only help students master content but also develop lifelong learning skills, such as critical thinking and problem-solving, which are essential beyond academics.”
Outside of work, Magdalena enjoys activities that challenge her creatively and intellectually. She has a passion for languages which she keeps alive by reading books in French and Polish to stay fluent. To keep her problem-solving skills intact, she solves puzzle and logic games. Staying active is important to her, so she often goes hiking, biking, and swimming.
