PrepNow Tutor - Dylan D.
Dylan’s all about maths and sciences! He has helped students excel in chemistry (physical, organic, and biochem), biology (including anatomy), and math (calculus I-III and differential equations).
Dylan graduated with a degree in chemical engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, where he tutored classmates in organic chemistry, physics, and differential equations. “I am most proud of my time tutoring differential equations, as everyone I tutored got an A in the class!” His professional career led him to Texas, where he worked as a production engineer, process engineer, and process controls engineer for major national companies like Texas Instruments.
His experiences making computer chips—and even controlling the machines that make the chips—allow him to make hands-on references during sessions, showing students how STEM skills translate to the real world. He currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia, and is excited to work with students online and in person while pursuing a degree to become a mental health therapist.
Dylan’s easy going demeanor makes him a great fit for anxious or hesitant learners. “I don’t assume that you know difficult material, and I will hold your hand and walk you through difficult problems,” he says. At times, he opts for a backward approach; “One thing that helped me and my classmates in college is to work backward from the solution if you have the answer key.” Unveiling the mechanics of how things work will, in turn, help students follow the same order of operations on their own.
He’s proud to share that he graduated magna cum laude with a 3.73 GPA from Colorado School of Mines. His relaxed, can-do demeanor earned him the superlative of “Best Attitude” from the faculty of the Chemical Engineering Department. In college, he ran on the track team and threw javelin.
When he’s not knee-deep in equations, he loves sci-fi books, walks, video games, and time with family and friends—especially to cheer on his hometown team, the Seattle Seahawks!
