PrepNow Tutor - Becky B.
An inquisitive tutor who seeks concise, accurate information to understand topics quickly, Becky loves to learn and values clarity and efficiency in communication. She holds a BA and an MS in instructional technology from the University of North Texas. Becky has spent many years in the nonprofit sector, tutoring and mentoring thousands of students. She moved into a leadership role as a Chief Program Officer and trained staff on how to tutor and mentor students. Over the years, Becky has gained expertise and has continuously built her skills while contributing to the community.
Becky started tutoring while she was in college. “I thought I was just going to do it to make some money while I was in school, but it ended up being more than that,” Becky says. “Tutoring helped me discover a passion for helping young people level up in their learning. I found a passion within me that I never knew existed.” Throughout her career, she has worked with students from kindergarten to college in English, Spanish, elementary math, algebra, geometry, physics, history, all sections of the SAT and PSAT, and more. She’s also coached students on college essays and general studying and organization. Becky has experience working with students with ADHD, dyslexia, and autism.
“I have an integrated teaching style and I describe myself as adaptable,” Becky says. “I am the type of tutor who is full of energy and goes with the flow. I am always switching it up between all the different teaching methods and I believe the main role of any tutor is to empower students and adapt to individual needs. My combined approach unites my personality and interests with the needs of the students.” Student success is a priority to Becky and she will do anything to ensure her tutoring style meets her students' needs.
In high school, Becky participated in track, volleyball, basketball, softball, and band. She continued to play softball in college, where she was on the President’s List for three semesters.
Becky, a native Spanish speaker, loves to play video games, read, go for walks, watch sports, and watch TikTok and YouTube videos; she also enjoys taking photos, trying new places to eat, cooking and grilling, spending time with friends and family, listening to music, taking road trips, and keeping up with the latest technology. “I love cats and almost every vegetable except peas,” Becky shares.
