PrepNow Tutor - Jackie D.

An enthusiastic and creative tutor, Jacquelynn enjoys teaching and seeing students grow. She holds a BS in mathematics from Randolph-Macon College and a certificate in Introduction to Python from Georgia Institute of Technology. Since college, Jacquelynn has worked as a private tutor for high school students, an instructor at a math learning center for K-12, and an instructor at a test prep learning center.
Jacquelynn started tutoring first as a private tutor for a friend's child who was struggling with calculus in high school. “My favorite part about tutoring is seeing the impact I have on students and the improvements they make because of that impact,” Jacquelynn says. Since then, she has tutored students one-on-one and up to groups of six, teaching the ACT and SAT, algebra, geometry, calculus, and more.
“I like to use a Socratic method when instructing students,” Jacquelynn says when asked about her tutoring style. “I believe simple lectures do not always ensure a student is learning the material. Asking questions along the way not only keeps the student more engaged but shows the tutor how much of the material the student has absorbed and learned.” Jacquelynn is an extremely advanced tutor in math and the ACT.
In high school, Jacquelynn was on both the honor roll and principal's honor roll for several years. She was a member of both her high school chorus and college chorus; and, to this day, she is a member of the Bach Society of Dayton and performs at concerts regularly. Jacquelynn enjoys reading, writing stories, and doing jigsaw puzzles. “I also love playing word games on my phone.”
