PrepNow Tutor - Aubrene M.
Patient and kind, Aubrene is passionate about education and prides herself on getting the job done. An early academic, Aubrene graduated high school at age sixteen. She earned her bachelor’s in criminal justice with dual minors in chemistry and emergency management at Jacksonville State University. Aubrene remained at Jacksonville State to earn her master’s in criminal justice. She then studied at the University of Florida where she obtained her master’s in forensic toxicology.
Since graduating, Aubrene has largely worked in data management in addition to tutoring. She currently works as a terminal agency coordinator, managing criminal justice information for state and national law enforcement agencies. Her tutoring work started when she was still in high school. Since 2010, Aubrene has tutored every age group from middle school to college. Primarily, the subjects she focuses on are mathematics and sciences. She has taught multiple students with learning disabilities. She even teaches at her current job, where she trains and assists with state testing for certification within the agency.
“I like to break down the problem and give relatable examples,” Aubrene says. Doing so gives students a deeper understanding of the subject material and also helps them remember the information in the long term. Moreover, she uses “terms students are familiar with” and makes it a point to define language while breaking down difficult problems, “making it easier to comprehend material that is based on their personal education level.” Aubrene takes pride in knowing she has assisted students in “reaching their academic goals.”
Aubrene spent eight years in her school orchestra. She also studied ceramics as a young student. These days her creativity is channeled into painting. She loves puzzles—whether they’re jigsaw, logic, or crosswords. She’s also a big fan of binging tv shows, specifically Game of Thrones and Harry Potter. Aubrene also loves any and everything Disney!
