PrepNow Tutor - Srineeth J.
Srineeth describes himself as a “curious and adaptable person.” As a teacher, tutor, and researcher, he has helped hundreds of students grasp topics in STEM and test prep.
He studied computer science as well as human-computer interaction and biology at Stony Brook University, where he worked as a teaching assistant in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. He specialized in supporting over 200 students in courses such as Theory of Computation, Ecology, and Evolution. In this role, he held office hours, graded papers, and led weekly group discussions.
He also performed research at Stony Brook’s Center for Understanding the Brain Through Imaging Technology (CUBIT), focusing on projects related to treating major depressive disorders' effects on neurological anatomy and physiology. Srineeth's experience performing quantitative data analysis at a professional level gives him extra insight into how to motivate students to use skills beyond tests and grades, for he can cite concrete examples. “With a passion for creativity and problem-solving, I strive to make a positive impact in both my personal and professional endeavors,” he shares.
His teaching style is flexible and student-centered. “Whether through discussions or explanations, I strive to engage students actively in their learning; I believe in creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring ideas,” he notes. His ultimate goal is for all of his students to thrive while learning independently. “I believe in empowering students to take ownership of their learning journey and providing them with the tools they need to succeed,” he concludes.
His top-notch academic performance earned him a presidential scholarship from the State University of New York. At Stony Brook, he earned the National Residence Hall Honorary Leadership Award (January 2022) and the Jerrold L. Stein Resident Assistant Hall of Fame Award at Stony Brook University (May 2023) for designing outstanding diversity, equity inclusion, and educational curricula. He also scored a spot on the dean’s list every semester.
Outside of work, he loves playing the piano, traveling, and learning new things. For Srineeth, being curious about the world and cultivating creativity are worthy, life-long endeavors that he also hopes to instill in his students!
