PrepNow Tutor - Alexandra F.

Alexandra has experience teaching a variety of subjects to students of varying ages and diverse backgrounds. She earned a BA in economics, with a minor in mathematics education, from the University of California, San Diego. During her undergraduate years, she worked as a private tutor specializing in SAT and ACT prep. After earning her teaching certification, she taught seventh-grade math at a local middle school. She has also taught math, science, sociology, and psychology at a junior college.
Alexandra’s teaching style is collaborative and flexible. “Everyone learns best when they can build on existing knowledge, so I encourage as much student input as possible,” she says. Once she’s determined a student’s strengths and weaknesses, she can use the former to overcome the latter. “I like to use their prior experience and instincts to learn and develop new skills,” she says. Along with her bright sense of humor, incorporating her students’ prior experiences and instincts makes each session lighthearted and relaxed. Her ultimate goal is to inspire her students to approach new concepts with confidence and grace. “Learning something new is like being endowed with a new superpower,” she says. “I hope to inspire a lifelong love of learning in my students as they discover their own superpowers!”
Alexandra holds a teaching credential in foundational mathematics. She graduated in the top five percent of her high school class.
When she’s not tutoring or learning something new, she enjoys cooking, doing yoga, and exploring nature. She has driven across the country five times!
