Passionate and flexible, tutor Belinda enjoys inspiring her students to delve into their own passion for learning. Belinda holds a BA in French from California State University, Los Angeles, and a MA in applied linguistics/TESO from UC Davis. She also obtained her Ed.D. in education with a focus in curriculum and teaching from Northcentral University.
Belinda has been passionate and engaged in the theoretical and practice of teaching and learning for most of her life. She's facilitated the learning for students from kindergarten through college. She’s tutored and taught a myriad of subjects including reading, writing, and math to AP history along with assisting students with test prep for the SAT and CHSPE. Her teaching style is patient, focusing on first understanding the student’s learning style so her lessons and examples can cater to them. By first having the student understand and be comfortable with their learning style, she can help them tackle challenging subjects.
Belinda’s own academic journey has been an interesting one. Though she left school in 7th grade, by the time she was 15, she was enrolled in college and went on to achieve not only her BA and MA but also her doctorate in education. Her current day to day life is no less exciting as she has a myriad of interests including antiquing, arts and crafts, reading, fitness, geocaching, and cooking.
