PrepNow Tutor - Jordan W.
Passionate about STEM education, Jordan strives to motivate his students to explore their academic pursuits to their fullest potential. Jordan received his BS in molecular and cellular biology from the University of Illinois, and his MD from the University’s College of Medicine. After a career shift from medicine to education, Jordan earned a master of arts in teaching from National Louis University. Jordan currently teaches 9th grade biology for a college-prep program.
Jordan has been a tutor for six years, assisting students in biology, chemistry, physics, algebra, and geometry. He has tutored for StudyPoint, PrepNow's sister company, for four years, completing more than 1,000 hours of tutoring in ACT and SAT prep, biology, chemistry, physics, and math. He’s also been a tutoring fellow for a high school in algebra and geometry.
Jordan’s teaching style is motivational while geared towards challenging his students to dive deeper into their academic pursuits. “Students need to know that you believe in them and that you will advocate for their success,” says Jordan. During lessons, Jordan acts as a facilitator for the student and their learning, inspiring them to go beyond the memorization of lessons and fully comprehend the material so they can solve problems on their own.
Along with STEM, Jordan has a passion for sports and music. He enjoys cycling and playing soccer and golf. Jordan began playing the guitar in high school and continues to jam out with his fiance and cat, Nora, as his biggest fans.
