Paul's Bio

Paul is a consumer electronics and communication technology professional who holds over 20 development patents. He earned three degrees: a BS in electrical engineering from Case Western University; an MS in electrical engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology; and a PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois Chicago, becoming a Fulbright Scholar in the process. In addition to his successful electronics career, Paul also has years of teaching and tutoring experience. Indeed, since 1998, he has kept a foot in the educational field, teaching and tutoring in various formats. He began as a calculus and physics student teacher and resident learning assistant at Case Western University. Later, he began years of private tutoring of algebra, calculus, and physics and as a volunteer tutor of algebra and geometry. Finally, he worked as a teaching assistant of image processing, signal processing, and digital signal processing while completing his PhD at the University of Illinois Chicago.
As he looks forward to continuing his educational path with StudyPoint students, Paul brings a pragmatic approach to his test-prep tutoring. First, he believes, students must understand the formats of standardized tests and embrace key strategies. He says, “I strongly believe that students can succeed in any arena if they are willing to share what they do and do not understand and if they are willing to embrace approaches tailored to the material and to their needs.” In order to encourage such engagement and flexibility, Paul believes in modeling the behavior he wishes to engender; to wit, he brings to his interactions the excitement and demeanor required to motivate student commitment.
Paul has always been a rather adventurous and creative soul. Some examples of his adventures include traveling to Greece as a Fulbright Scholar and winning a ghost-pepper-eating contest (separate occasions). Also, as alluded to earlier, his creative mind has allowed him to patent many innovations designed for improved memory care related to camera phones, satellite radios, and wearable devices. Finally, sometimes adventure and mental stimulation can come in the form of taking a leisurely hike or visiting sites of historical significance, both cornerstones of Paul’s off time.
