PrepNow Tutor - Aidan G.
Math is the core of Aidan’s expertise—“everything from elementary to calculus,” he notes. Specifically, he has tutored basic arithmetic, pre-algebra, algebra, linear algebra, trigonometry, geometry, pre-calculus, and all levels of calculus. His experiences as a teaching assistant in college physics, which involved heavy calculus, showed him the value of asking quality questions and meeting students where they are.
In 2026, Aidan earned a BS in astronomy and astrophysics from Penn State University, where he currently works as a research assistant at the Penn State Extraterrestrial Intelligence Center. “I work to develop new, more sensitive methods to search for extraterrestrial radio signals,” he shares. He has also worked at the Laboratory for Atomic and Photonic Research, developing sensitive lasers to test predicted effects of general relativity. He’s excited to begin graduate school in Fall 2026 and hopes eventually to earn a doctorate!
Aidan began tutoring at a math learning center after his family encouraged him to share his skills and love of helping others. For a year, he also volunteered as an elementary math and reading tutor for Forging Opportunities for Refugees in America.
“My proudest moment as a tutor was during my time as an undergraduate teaching assistant. I had helped a student with a certain type of problem they were having difficulties with, and after working through a few together, they came back a week later and expressed how much I had helped them earn an A on an exam,” he recalls.
Aidan ascribes to a more Socratic teaching style. “I like to gauge a student's understanding, often having them solve a problem on their own first; next, I gradually help more and more until they can solve a problem, and then have them do another on their own,” he shares. Ultimately, he wants students to thrive on their own with a renewed sense of confidence and, above all, a passion for learning.
At Penn State University, Aidan was a Schreyer Honors Student and on the dean's list all eight semesters.
These days, he loves gaming, reading, hanging with his cats, and playing guitar. “I play in a band in Chicago called CANNA SOUP,” he adds.
Fun family fact: “My great uncle was the Prime Minister of Canada. He has a street named after him (St. Laurent).”
