Deepak's Bio

An educator and scientist with over fifteen years of instructional experience, Deepak specializes in one-on-one mentorship, tutoring programming languages, and simplifying complex technical subjects. “My structured approach empowers students to overcome academic challenges and build lasting confidence,” Deepak says. Deepak holds a PhD and MSc in biotechnology from the University of Pune and a BSc with honors in microbiology from the University of Delhi. Since completing his education, Deepak has spent over fifteen years working at the intersection of advanced scientific research and academic instruction, teaching undergraduate and graduate-level microbiology and biotechnology. “My career spans leadership roles in top-tier medical centers, universities, and biotechnology consulting,” he shares. In addition to tutoring test prep, Deepak currently serves as the Principal Bioinformatics Scientist & Consultant at Bainom Inc.
Deepak started teaching during his graduate school training when he was tasked with breaking down complex biological and chemical systems for university students. “I quickly realized that many students felt intimidated by heavy technical jargon, and I found a genuine passion for creating structured, highly accessible breakdowns that turned confusion into clarity,” he says. “This passion carried over into my research career, where I transitioned to tutoring graduate students, postdocs, and cross-functional teams in data interpretation and coding languages like Python and R.” With over fifteen years of teaching experience, Deepak’s extensive history of guiding students through high-stakes technical logic validation makes him an excellent tutor for test prep and math up to AP Calculus and college calculus.
“My tutoring style is structured, encouraging, and highly collaborative,” Deepak says. “I do not lecture; instead, I act as an academic coach. I break complex, intimidating problems into small, logical steps, guiding students to find the answers themselves through active questioning and real-time practice. I explicitly tailor the pace of the lesson to each student's current mastery level, ensuring they feel supported but challenged.” Deepak has learned that technical anxiety is the biggest barrier to learning. “When a student looks at a complex math problem or a dense reading passage and panics, their working memory shuts down,” he explains. “By using a highly structured, step-by-step approach, I remove the intimidation factor. Celebrating small wins during a session rewires a student’s relationship with a difficult subject, transforming anxiety into analytical confidence.”
Deepak believes that education should focus on teaching thinking frameworks, not rote memorization. “In my scientific career, memorized facts change, but strong critical thinking, logical validation, and problem-solving frameworks are permanent,” he says, adding that his ultimate goal as a tutor is to make himself obsolete. “I want to equip students with metacognitive skills—like analyzing their own mistakes and breaking down unfamiliar prompts—so they have the toolset to tackle future academic challenges entirely on their own.” Because Deepak’s daily work involves translating highly complex concepts for non-technical stakeholders, he is adept at instantly pivoting his explanation styles to match a student’s unique learning speed and cognitive style.
During Deepak’s college years, he actively participated in Academic Science Clubs and Student Mentorship Programs. He also engaged in science outreach initiatives, presenting complex research ideas to peers and organizing student-led biology seminars.
“Outside of my professional scientific research, I stay active by engaging with hobbies that challenge my mind and keep me balanced,” Deepak says. In particular, Deepak enjoys following the latest developments in consumer technology and artificial intelligence, running and participating in recreational sports, reading non-fiction, and volunteering his time to simplify complex scientific ideas for family, friends, and community members.
