PrepNow Tutor - Gunner M.

A tutor who loves learning new things and sharing that knowledge with others, Gunner holds a BS in mechanical engineering from Brigham Young University Idaho. Since graduating, he has worked at various engineering firms, designing a wide range of projects, from telephone poles to power plants. In addition to tutoring, Gunner is currently a stay-at-home dad.
Gunner started tutoring in 2013 as a high school student, initially teaching chess before adding in math and science. “I love seeing the figurative 'lightbulb' go off in students' minds and seeing their confidence increase,’ Gunner says. Throughout his career, Gunner has worked with students from kindergarten to college in math, science, and test prep. As an undergraduate, in addition to one-on-one tutoring, he worked as a physics teacher’s aid and math lab instructor.
"I target missing foundational skills as a priority,” Gunner says, when asked about his tutoring style. “In math especially, everything builds on previous knowledge, so the key to success is to have a strong foundation. I believe everyone can be successful in math!” In math, he can tutor all levels up to Calculus II and AP Calculus BC.
As a student, Gunner was on the chess team. He loves chess, Pokémon, and Super Smash Bros. He often travels to other states to attend chess tournaments. “I'm an Arizona-native father of one, with another on the way,” Gunner shares.
