PrepNow Tutor - Arthran F.

A tutor with hands-on experience in organic chemistry and nuclear physics research, Arthran is passionate about making complex topics easy to understand. He holds a BS in chemistry from Prairie View A&M University and has worked on research projects in both organic chemistry and nuclear physics. Along the way, he’s helped students break down chemistry concepts in a way that actually makes sense.
Arthran first started tutoring by helping classmates who were struggling with chemistry. He quickly realized he had a knack for breaking down tough concepts in a way that made sense. “My proudest moment was seeing a student go from failing grades to passing with confidence after just a few weeks of working together,” Arthran says. “It was rewarding to watch their mindset shift from ‘I can’t do this’ to ‘I get it now,’ because it proved that the right guidance can completely change someone’s relationship with a subject.” Arthran has tutored general chemistry, organic chemistry, and introductory physics to high school and college students in both one-on-one and group sessions. “I’ve built a track record of helping students succeed in chemistry through tutoring, simplifying complex topics into clear, practical explanations,” Arthran says. He has also tutored algebra I & II, geometry, trigonometry, and pre-calculus to middle school through college students.
“I describe my teaching style as patient, interactive, and focused on making learning feel approachable,” Arthran says. “I believe students learn best when they understand the ‘why’ behind what they’re doing, so I break concepts down into simple steps, connect them to real-life examples, and encourage questions at every stage. My philosophy is that education should build confidence, not just knowledge—when a student feels capable, they’re more willing to tackle challenges and push themselves further.” Arthran is always focused on helping students truly master the material, and his unique blend of scientific expertise and creative skills allows him to approach tutoring from multiple angles while keeping sessions engaging and tailored to each student’s learning style. “I’m committed to not just helping students succeed academically, but also to building their confidence and curiosity along the way,” Arthran says.
Arthran played soccer competitively in high school and on club teams in college. Throughout undergrad, he also participated in student leadership and competitive research fellowships in organic chemistry and nuclear physics. Outside of work, he continues to enjoy soccer and is passionate about art and illustration, especially creating visuals for children’s books and animation projects.
In his downtime, Arthran enjoys playing the piano, exploring new music, and finding creative ways to connect science with art. “I can play the piano effortlessly by ear without reading sheet music, and I’ve even performed on a Disney cruise ship,” he says.
