Nicholas's Bio

Nicholas’s expertise runs the gamut of computer science: foundations and principles, Python, web design, JavaScript, Java, C/C++, web hosting/Linux. He’s also adept at teaching statistics applications and languages, including R and Python Pandas. Regarding maths, he excels at applied math, algebra I & II, trigonometry, and geometry. He’s proud to share that many of his students have boosted their SAT and ACT scores.

Nicholas earned a BS in cartography and geographic information systems with a minor in computer science from Salem State University. Since graduating, he has been tutoring full-time and has earned “numerous 5-star reviews from students.”

He began tutoring as an undergraduate student, wanting to give back to the department that had helped him so much. “I instantly realized that I was not only good at teaching in a one-on-one environment, but it barely felt like work at all to me!”

Connection is key to Nicholas’ teaching and tutoring approach. He sees himself not as an authority, but as a guide on equal footing. “I believe one-on-one tutoring works best by establishing a peer-based relationship,” he explains. By getting to know his students and building trust with them, he’s able to adapt to their learning needs and pivot when necessary. “In a world where there are so many authority figures that are judging and grading modern students, having an ally that a student can feel comfortable with is so important,” he adds. Ultimately, he wants his students to feel empowered in their learning journeys.

As a student, he excelled at cross country and track; he was also a valuable member of the baseball team.

In his free time, he likes to keep up with politics, learn anything to do with computer science, and go biking. “I enjoy going on long bike-ride tours that can commonly exceed 40, even 50 miles!”
