Zoulfekar's Bio

Zoulfekar is a math and physics educator with a passion for guiding students through challenging concepts. He holds several degrees: a BS in applied physics from the Lebanese University; an MS in physics from Wayne State University; and a PhD in physics from Wayne State University.

While in school, Zoulfekar was the recipient of the Thomas C. Rumble Graduate Fellowship, Green Scholarship, and James Kaskas Scholarship. Zoulfekar’s teaching philosophy centers around making complex ideas accessible, fostering curiosity, and building confidence in students through patient and personalized instruction.

Zoulfekar worked as a software quality analyst before transitioning to focus entirely on academia. He currently teaches physics and astronomy at Henry Ford College, Madonna University, Macomb Community College, and University of Detroit Mercy, helping students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills through data analysis and simulations.

Zoulfekar started teaching and tutoring in graduate school, where he led physics labs and discussion sessions. “I quickly realized that I had a passion for breaking down complex ideas into more accessible and understandable concepts,” Zoulfekar says. “This experience ignited my love for teaching, as I found joy in helping students overcome challenges and watching them grasp difficult material.”

Zoulfekar loves inspiring curiosity and confidence in his students by creating an interactive and supportive learning environment where they feel encouraged to ask questions and engage deeply with the material. “Teaching allows me to share my knowledge while continually learning from my students' unique perspectives,” Zoulfekar says.

Throughout his career, Zoulfekar has worked with hundreds of students across different grade levels, helping them to improve their grades, grasp difficult concepts, and achieve academic success. While his focus has been primarily on physics and mathematics, he is always eager to leverage his extensive background in teaching to help students improve their standardized test scores. As a student-centered tutor, Zoulfekar tailors his teaching approach to meet the individual needs of each student, ensuring that they not only understand the material but also build the confidence to tackle new challenges independently. “I emphasize active learning, where students engage with the material through problem-solving, discussions, and real-world applications,” he explains. “This helps them to deepen their understanding and retain knowledge more effectively.”

In high school and college, Zoulfekar participated in science clubs and academic competitions related to physics and mathematics. Zoulfekar is passionate about reading, cooking, and fitness. Outside of work, he enjoys spending quality time with his family, especially with his three boys, whether it’s playing games, exploring the outdoors, or engaging in fun learning activities.

Zoulfekar received an award for his excellent teaching at Wayne State University and has authored several research publications in the field of nuclear physics, including works on dynamic fluctuations in heavy ion collisions. “A fun fact about me is that I love to experiment with traditional Lebanese recipes in the kitchen! It's my way of blending tradition with experimentation—much like I do with teaching and science.”
