PrepNow Tutor - Jared C.
Veteran teacher and lifelong learner Jared is passionate about helping students learn. He earned his bachelor of science degree in computer engineering from Texas A&M University. Recently, he took a hiatus from teaching to study mathematics at University of Texas at Austin. Jared spent over a decade teaching mathematics and computer science at the high school level.
“Young people are energetic and usually eager to learn,” says Jared. As such he found it “nearly impossible” to leave teaching once he started. In every subject he’s taught, students have consistently improved their IB and AP scores. His students have gone on to multiple Ivies, Stanford, and all of the service academies. In addition to teaching, Jared has worked as a tutor with students ranging from elementary school age through to college undergraduates.
Jared’s teaching style is student-centered. “I ask students guiding questions so that they can better discover concepts,” he explains. Moreover, “I believe that any student can learn with enough determination and dedication.” Jared’s role as a teacher is to help students gain confidence with the subject matter. “Material can be scaffolded and as students gradually experience success, it will build their confidence and enhance their learning,” he says.
As a high school student, Jared was athletic—playing both football and golf. He still enjoys a round of golf as well as watching a good movie. Jared enjoys traveling and spent nearly two years living in the United Kingdom.
