PrepNow Tutor - Robert G.
A veteran teacher, Robert majored in math education and minored in Spanish at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Robert always excelled in math, and, eventually, he realized he enjoyed explaining it to others as well. "I first started teaching as an education student in college and found it fulfilling to help others overcome challenges and gain confidence," he clarifies. In addition to being a middle school math teacher for twelve years and a private tutor for eight years, Robert was a counselor and teacher at a wilderness camp for historically underserved students. The school where he taught even gained the distinction of being a "National School to Watch." Also a working actor, Robert had a small part in one of the top summer movies of 2021.
Over fifteen years, Robert has taught 7th and 8th-grade math to roughly three thousand students! He also tutored test prep (ISEE, HSPT, SAT) and secondary math topics (algebra 1, algebra 2, geometry, trigonometry, and pre-calc) to about a hundred students over the last twenty years. "I believe in making math fun and interesting, because only then will the learner want to give it their attention," says Robert. He meets the learner where they are on their learning journey and helps them reach new levels of understanding.
Robert not only played high school football but starred in school plays. His academic excellence also allowed him to graduate as valedictorian. In college, he was a member of sketch and improvisational comedy troupes.
Robert enjoys biking, hiking, and spending time with his rescue dog, Kevin. He's an avid fan of college basketball and football. When he's not outside or cheering for his teams, ancestry research is one of his favorite hobbies.
