Gail's Bio

A graduate of Duke University who has served on the admissions committee there for over twenty years, Gail is a passionate educator and admissions consultant who has helped students achieve admission to many schools including Brown, Duke, UNC-CH, UCLA, Dartmouth, Davidson, and University of Florida. Gail has a strong background in test prep tutoring and teaching English. That may be why, as a consultant, she has such a strong sense of how to help students with their application essays ensuring that they present themselves in the best possible light. Additionally, Gail has worked with dozens of students preparing them for interviews.

One of her favorite success stories to share is about a young man she worked with, John. John was being totally neglected by his parents, living in unsanitary conditions, and often did not have enough to eat. His older brother and his brother's wife took John into their home and gave him the nurturing support he needed. They contacted me, and over a period of months I worked with him to complete the admissions process. After many drafts and revisions, he completed a sterling essay that won him a Horatio Alger Scholarship worth $25,000, which is awarded to the most eligible seniors who have overcome great obstacles in their lives. John is now attending Oregon State University, one of the top forestry schools in the nation, where he is fulfilling his dream of becoming a forest ranger.

Gail consistently advises her students to make the most of their college years. She remembers how easy it is to get overwhelmed by large reading assignments in college. She encourages students to set up study schedules, get assignments done right away, and not procrastinate. “Your college years are going to be some of the most challenging but also some of the best years of your life,” she says.

Outside of working with students, Gail is a swimmer and active bridge player and even teaches bridge online.
